I always thought that massage was basically a really good back rub.
When I came to Cynthia, I had a muscle knotted up in my lower back.
After working on that muscle for an hour, my pain was gone. She
was able to stretch the muscle back in to place. I completely
believe in the healing ability of massage and especially in Cynthia
Jaqua's "Studio of Massage and Bodywork".

I found Cynthia around the corner from our
office when I flew to Findlay
Ohio from South Georgia to work after the
flooding in Findlay in '07.
I got her to do the deep tissue massage because of the
pain I had from traveling to my job.
Trying to handle three suitcases with enough clothes to
stay and work for a month is a little much on a 64 yr old lady and I was
having muscle spasms.
Cynthia was the best I have ever had to work on me and we
made friends real fast.
She was very helpful to several others on our staff and
we will always be so glad that we found her while in Findlay,
Ohio.

We had never heard of a massage doula before
but now we are very big promoters of them.
We were blessed to have Cynthia be a doula for us when
we found out that we were expecting.
We can't tell you how much help and support she was for
both the pre-labor and labor.
She helped my pre-labor by routine massages that allowed
my back, hips and legs to stay limber as my belly was getting
bigger & this was wonderful because it allowed me to work up to the day I
had the baby.
She also helped us go thru our birthing plan which was great because I
didn't want an epidural and also my husband wanted to be an active part
in helping me during the labor.
The evening that my water broke was a surprise to all of
us because I wasn't due for another week. We kept Cynthia posted and she
arrived at the hospital shortly after we did.
She was an awesome coach for both me and my husband, she
was like our angel! She helped me get thru contractions with my husband
assisting her (that was part of our birth plan).
She stayed with me
so he could take a break to grab a bite to eat and get a power nap. She
kept reassuring him and me that we were doing great.
After 11 hours total and with outstanding support and
care we were blessed with a baby girl, Danica Rae
(8lbs 2oz).
I am very proud to say that by having a massage doula I delivered my
baby with no drugs or an epidural.
My husband, Pat wants every dad to know that a massage
doula DOES NOT step on your toes, instead she helps you in every way
possible. She
helped him be the best supporter and coach as he watched me go thru
labor. We
were so blessed with this experience that if we are to become pregnant
again, we will be calling Cynthia again!!
Thank you so much.
God Bless.

Before we met Cynthia, we had no idea what a
doula was. Once she explained her role, we were very interested.
Cynthia was more than just a support person
during our labor and delivery but a great support person through the
pregnancy as well. From the first time we met with Cynthia she gave us
several exercises to work on which would assist us with following
through on our birth plan, which was a vaginal birth with no drugs or
epidural, and we hoped to go into labor naturally. We were concerned
about my low tolerance for pain. I was on the fence about the epidural
and left the door open to get one, which most of our friend s said meant
I would probably cave in and get it.
My doctor was concerned throughout the last
stages of my pregnancy that my son was getting too big and scheduled an
induction in hopes that I would be able to have a vaginal birth. Our
first induction was postponed which I took as a one last opportunity for
labor to start naturally. We spoke with Cynthia who gave us more
exercises to help prepare my body and encourage our son to be positioned
correctly for a vaginal birth.
Needless to say, my labor did not start on its
own so we went to the hospital to be induced. Once my labor started to
get going, Cynthia joined us at the hospital.
At no time during my labor did I feel the need for drugs
because with Cynthia’s help I remained focused, relaxed, and in control
of my labor. Her advice and support also helped my husband to remain
calm and supportive throughout the process. Just four and a half hours
after the start of the induction and I was ready to start pushing. This
was the most difficult portion for me as I started to lose my focus and
realize/feel the pain. Cynthia helped my husband to refocus me and 17
minutes later our son was born, weighing in at 9 pounds, 15 ounces!
If not for the exercises and encouragement,
support and advice from Cynthia, we don’t feel our pregnancy, labor and
delivery process would have been such a successful and enjoyable
experience. We were able to have our son with no IV drugs and no
epidural. Thank you Cynthia!
