About Me
Hello:
My name is Cynthia Jaqua and I was born and raised in Findlay,
Ohio. I first learned
massage when I was a veterinarian technician, in 1982.
The doctors I worked for taught me post surgery massage.
The reason for massage after surgery was to allow the animals to
come out of their anesthesia very peacefully. Another benefit is so they
wouldn’t thrash around in their kennels and hurt themselves.
I also attended dog and horse shows where I would work on the
animals and their owners.
My love for massage started in the 1980’s, but I didn’t go to
school for human massage until 1999.
At that time I was living in Salem, New Jersey and commuted to
Wilmington DE for massage school. After graduation, I took the
“Nationals”, which is an exam to become nationally certified in
therapeutic massage and bodywork. I keep that certification current,
which is the NCTMB.
In 2004, I moved back to Findlay only to find out I couldn’t work
until I went back to school to learn the curriculum that was taught in
Ohio. I was not allowed to sit for the Ohio State Medical Boards exam
without this curriculum.
What then seemed like and endless journey actually taught me much more
than therapeutic massage; I
received the gift of understanding and patience on yet a higher level.
Once I passed the boards, I knew my massage career was just
starting again. My licensure for Ohio is licensed massage therapist,
which is LMT.
Even though Ohio doesn’t require continuing education, I find it
necessary. There are many
kinds of massages you only touch base on in school; however, there are
many specialty massages that you can only learn through continued
education. So it is my
belief that continuing education is a must to being a well-rounded
therapist.
In the past two years, through continuing education, I received
my certification as a Reiki Master, which is working with energy. I have
also received my certification as a Massage Doula, which is prenatal,
labor and birthing massage.
Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself. I am more than
happy to answer any questions about my professional career, or offer any
insight as to the uses and advantages of massage therapy. Please contact
me via email or telephone.
Warmly,
Cynthia Jaqua
